Miracles Happen ~ February 2019

Carolny, Ardis, KD, Barbara and Carol
On Monday, February 4th, we met at Carol's home to make Valentines for the Assisted Living Centers in this area.

We were able to make over 100 Valentines, which were delivered to Assisted Living and Care Centers. Each of the residents will get a Valentine filled with love on Valentine's Day.

Thankful, Happy People ~ January 2019

"It is not happy people who are thankful, it is thankful people who are happy."

Our January 2019 We CAN service group met on Monday, January 7, 10:00 a.m. at Carolyn's home.  We worked on several service projects:  (1) tying a quilt; (2) finishing fleece blankets that we already have the fabric for, (3) putting together activity grab bags for children in the hospital and (5) putting together newborn kits for refugees.
We did over 50 newborn kits  Lifting Hands International, is a non-profit organization that helps with the needs of Refugees.  This organization that collects, sorts, and packs hundreds of boxes which are shipped to refugee camps around the world.   Inside each kit is a knit hat, a onesie, and socks.  Many of the hats were made by Doreen and her daughter, Sandy and Nadia made the rest of the needed hats on looms.

Every baby deserves to wrapped in love - September reportKim

"Every baby deserves to be wrapped in love . . .
and every parent deserves the gift of hope."
~ Kim Amato, Baby's Bounty
Kim Amato Founder of Baby's Bounty and Renae H
On Tuesday, September 23, Tim H drove Renae and Carolyn from Mesquite to Las Vegas so we could turn in the baby clothes and supplies the We Can ladies had donated at our September meeting. It was special that Renae got to go with Carolyn because even though Renae can never attend our We Can meetings, she donates every month and is actively interested in what we are collecting and doing at We Can.
We were pleased to meet Kim Amato, the founder of Baby's Bountywho happened to be at the collection center that day.

Kim showed us a kit that was ready to be delivered. We were able to ask her questions about Baby's Bounty and talk with her about the charity's mission and needs.   It's always nice to meet a charity's founder because you can feel their excitement, passion, commitment,  and love for their cause and the people they serve.  We left feeling impressed with Baby's Bounty and the work that they do.  We felt like we had done some good that day. Thank you to the We Can ladies for the two boxes of baby clothing and supplies donated to a very worthy charity.
