Nothing Worthwhile Just Happens - March 2019

The "Remember Nhu" scarf project is complete for this year.  We are turning in 50 beautiful  scarves!  These scarves and hats are used to help children in cooler climates have warm scarves and hats to wear to school.  Thank you, ladies!
Barbara, K.D, Carolyn, Victoria and Ardis working on T-Shirt Dresses
Monday, March 4th we met at Barbara's home and sewed T-shirt dresses for little girls in Africa.  Attending today were Barbara, K.D., Carolyn, Victoria, Ardis, Carol, Sharon and Sandy.

The dresses are made with a purchased T-shirt and gathering a co-ordinating fabric and sewing it to the T-shirt to make a skirt.  They are colorful and fun to make.
Some of the ladies also worked on Alphabet Books that are sent to primary schools throughout the world to help children learn the alphabet and reading skills.

We finished sixteen T-shirt dresses today.  Here are a few of them, fun, colorful and bright!  We hope these little girls feel loved when they put on their new dress!

We also collected items for "Move In Kits" for the homeless.  The move in kits are to help homeless people who are moving to an apartment from transitional housing, a shelter, or off the street.  They are in need of basic items to set up housekeeping.  There are 3 basic kits we can contribute to:

Bath Kit:  bath towel, hand towel, wash cloth, toilet brush, plunger

Kitchen Kit:  4 plastic glasses 4 piece dish set, 4 piece flatwear set, can opener, dish cloths, dish towel

Cleaning Kit:  glass cleaner, dish soap, toilet cleaner, disinfectant cleaning product, multi-purpose cleaner, package of sponges, small laundry soap, mop, broom, dustpan/brush set

We collected boxes of items for the kits today.  Carolyn and Ardis will deliver these to the shelter and take the T-shirt dresses to the Humanitarian Center in American Fork.

We had a lovely potluck lunch as well.

Our next meeting will be held, Monday, April 1st.
