Maureen, Carolyn and Barbara organizing the food for the Nutrition Packs
We met April 1st at Ardis home. There were seven of us attending our service project: Maureen, Carolyn, Barbara, Sandy, Ardis, KD, Kathy We collected items for Community Action Food Bank in Provo.  Each year they collect items of food that children can take home on week-ends or during the summer.

The seven items Included in the packs are nutritious items that are easy to open and eat: An Entree such as Easy Mac or Rice Noodles that are Microwave-able and easy to prepare, Juice, Granola Bar, Dried Fruit, Crackers, Fruit Pouch and Fruit Snacks.

Each week the Community Action Food Bank prepares 1400 packs for kids who face food insecurity in their homes each weekend. The packs contain seven specific items that are easy for children to cook and eat on their own.
There are several ways to get involved with Kids Nutrition Paks or helping with other needs at the Community Action Food Bank:: you can bring supplies for the project, preassemble packs, or donate money to support the program. Any contribution is greatly appreciated! Contact the Community Action Food Bank in Provo

After we finished the Nutrition Packs we worked on Lady Bug Kits that will go to a local hospital.

Our next WE CAN meeting will be held Monday, May 6th at Lynn's home in Payson.  We are collecting items for hygiene kits for the children in an orphanage in Juarez, Mexico.  We'll also learn to make plarn, which is yarn made from plastic shopping bags that is crocheted into bags for sleeping mats for the homeless.  We will also be celebrating Cinco de Mayo!
Bring a friend and come join us for a few fun hours of service!
