" I always thought someone should do something about that. . .
and then I realized
'I am somebody' — that's it. " ~ Lily Tomlin

Inside each bag are a pencil sharpener, child scissors, glue stick, two notebooks, colored pencils or crayons, several pens and pencils, scotch tape, a small calculator and stapler. These supplies are put into back packs for children to be prepared with school supplies when they begin school in a few weeks.
We were able to gather enough supplies for 20 bags. These were delivered to the Community Action Center in Provo, where they will be placed in a school back pack. Children who need them can come to the center and pick a back pack up. There are children each year whose familes can't afford to purchase school supplies, so it helps these young children to start school on an at least one even plain with their friends.

These shape toys are sent around the world to schools in developing countries. Teachers use them to teach shape and color, which help children as they develop their reading skills. |

We ended our few hours of service with a lovely luncheon. It was a productive day and a joyful day to visit with dear and loved friends.
Our next meeting will be held on Monday, September 9th.
